Recipe for Crispy Baked Chicken Wings

These baked chicken wings have the ideal amount of crispiness and tenderness, making them crunchy and delicious! particularly when they’re covered with your preferred sauce. While some chicken wing recipes ask for coating the wings with baking powder before baking, we’ve found that the easiest way to achieve crispy oven-baked chicken wings is to just dip them in oil and seasonings. Sometimes, less is more!

HOW TO MAKE CRISPY BAKED CHICKEN WINGS

Baking chicken wings in the oven is super easy! First, we combine the spices, then mix them with chicken and oil. We spread the chicken wings onto a baking sheet and pop them in the oven for 50 to 60 minutes at 340ºF (170ºC). Expert tip: we preheat the oven to 450ºF (230ºC) and immediately lower the temperature when popping the chicken wings. This locks in moisture and flavor, ensuring nice, crispy skin!

DIRECTIONS

  1. To prepare the baked chicken wings, mix the instant chicken stock, paprika, cumin, oregano, Cayenne, pepper, salt, and onion and garlic powder in a small bowl or shallow plate.
  2. Put the chicken wings in a big salad bowl, cover with a layer of oil, and then add the spice mixture. To coat the chicken, thoroughly mix. Let it rest for half an hour; storing it in the fridge overnight is ideal. While waiting, adjust the oven rack to the middle position and preheat the oven to 450oF (230oC).
  3. Spread the chicken wings out on a rimmed baking sheet (you can cover it with parchment paper or foil) when it’s time to bake them.
  4. After putting the baking sheet with the wings in the oven, lower the heat to 340ºF (170ºC) and bake for 50 to 1 hour. If you’d like, you can turn the wings over halfway through cooking.
  5. Transfer the baking sheet to a cooling rack after carefully taking it out of the oven. Give it five minutes to rest. By doing this, the baked chicken wings will keep more of their crunch. If desired, garnish with chopped cilantro and lemon slices. Have fun! ❤️

TIPS FOR THE BAKED CHICKEN WINGS RECIPE

  • Double the seasonings for crispy and extra spicy chicken wings!
After an hour, preheat your oven to 170ºF (75ºC) and slow roast your chicken wings for a further 30 minutes if you prefer them extra crispy and well done.
You are welcome to change the amounts of the different spices to your preferred level. We also enjoy our chicken wings marinated with a little hot sauce!
Seek for “party style” or “split chicken wings,” which will save baking time because the wingettes and drummettes are already divided.
